Here are a list of assumptions that we need to avoid when doing Remote Learning:

ASSUMPTION: Everything will be the same in my virtual classroom as it is in a face to face classroom
- Do not assume it will be. Virtual classrooms do not look nor function the same way face to face classrooms would
ASSUMPTION: Lesson plans are set, the teacher had a routine that will be continued at home.
- You will most likely need to adapt to a new routine that will change and evolve as we move to this new instructional delivery. Lessons will be learned and things will change as we grow into this.
ASSUMPTION: Being online on-time is how it works.
- This will not work. Students have a variety of other demands and obstacles (Device utilization, managing family dynamics, location barriers, etc.) teachers will try to use flexibility, offer choice, and be willing to adjust.
ASSUMPTION: Using resources and videos we used readily in the classroom will be able to be used from home.
- This is ok for some programs and lessons, but some platforms do not transfer well, if at all, to a home environment. Teachers will find what works for them and their students as they move forward.
ASSUMPTION: This is similar to a snow day
- This is not a snow day and should not be treated as one. This is Remote Learning and students will be required to participate to ensure we continue their educational growth.
